Mi Acueductos: registering and managing your water account

Last reviewed: August 14, 2026VerifiedAAA

In short

Mi Acueductos is the payments and services portal of the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority, free for all its customers and with two-factor authentication. To register you only need an email address and a device, but two details make the process fail: the activation link emailed to you lasts 30 minutes and if it expires you must register again, and to link an account to your profile the system asks for three pieces of the owner’s or authorized person’s data — account number, licence or ID number, and the phone the account was registered with. From the portal you can see your balance, billing and payment history, activate e-billing and SMS alerts, set up direct debit and open service orders, including starting and stopping service and disputing a bill. If you used the previous “Mi Cuenta” app, you must register again.

What is it?

Mi Acueductos is the AAA’s payments and services portal, which the agency describes as built to the highest security standards, including multi-factor authentication. Any AAA customer can access it, free and from any platform, including the mobile app. It replaces the previous app, “Mi Cuenta”: anyone who used it must register again in Mi Acueductos to manage e-billing, SMS alerts or direct debit, though the AAA states they will keep receiving their bill by email in the meantime.

Who can do it?

The portal is open to every AAA customer, entirely free. To register you need an email account and a computer or mobile device. You can register your mobile number to receive the security code by text; if you do not, the code goes to your email, and you can add the phone later. Linking an account to the profile requires the account owner’s or authorized person’s validation information, so you can manage someone else’s account if you have that data and their authorization.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Create the profile

Go to acueductos.pr.gov and click Mi Acueductos in the menu; it takes you to the portal, where you click Regístrate. Fill in the required fields. The password needs at least 12 characters with a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter and a special character. The secret question’s answer is case-sensitive, and it is what recovers your password: write it down exactly as you typed it.

  2. Step 2: Activate within 30 minutes

The system sends an email with an Activate button. That link lasts 30 minutes; if you do not use it in time, you must register again. If the email does not arrive, the AAA points to the common causes: the junk or spam filter, a full inbox, a typo in the address, or having used a different one of your emails when creating the profile.

  3. Step 3: Link your account with the three data points

When you log in you will see the Mis Cuentas screen. To add an account the system asks, as a security measure, for the account number, the licence or ID number, and the phone the account was registered with. You can link as many accounts as you need, as long as you have that validation data from the owner or authorized person.

  4. Step 4: Mind the direct debit cap

When setting up direct debit you specify a maximum amount to debit. It is useful for budgeting, but it has a consequence worth understanding: if the bill is larger than that maximum, the AAA debits up to that amount and the remaining balance is yours to pay on or before the due date. A low cap does not protect you from going past due.

  5. Step 5: Use each account’s actions

Under Mis Cuentas, the three dots to the right of each account open the actions menu: account detail, service certifications, e-billing and SMS, billing history, payment plan, CCR report and remove account. And under Servicios are the orders: service order status, bill not received, dispute a bill, start service and stop service.

Where to do it

Online, at the Mi Acueductos portal, or from the AAA mobile app. If you prefer or need a human, the Call Center is open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., every day of the year including holidays, at (787) 620-2482, and at (787) 679-7322 for hearing-impaired customers.

What to do if something goes wrong

If the activation email did not arrive, check the junk folder, confirm your inbox is not full and that you typed the address correctly; if the link is past 30 minutes, you must register again. If you forgot your password, the “forgot my password” link will ask for your secret question’s answer, which is case-sensitive. If you used the “Mi Cuenta” app, you must register again here to manage e-billing, SMS or direct debit. If your problem is not the portal but an outage, a leak or a sector without water, that is a different guide and the Call Center handles it. This guide states no duration for a service order because the AAA does not publish one, and it does not describe the requirements to start new service, which the AAA does not detail on these pages either: ask when filing the order or calling. PRFácil does not manage AAA accounts or payments.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the 30-minute activation link expire and having to register again.
  • Trying to link the account with only the account number: three data points are needed.
  • Forgetting that the secret question’s answer is case-sensitive.
  • Setting a low direct debit cap and believing the whole bill is covered.
  • Assuming the old “Mi Cuenta” app account still works.
